This has taken me longer to play and longer to write. Last week, when I completed the “Into the Depths” mission, Trion Worlds had announced the new content update “The Plague”. The Plague was about an infection that’s started to spread from San Francisco all the way to the town of Defiance. Arkhunters were called to help stop this from spreading. It was only a matter of time, the town of Defiance was going to be invaded by zombies. Similar to other Defiance updates, The Plague is a crossover event, tied to the TV Show as well. As you are reading this, the new episode of Defiance "If I Ever Leave The World Alive" will be out and we will have seen the aftermath of the Plague, and not everyone would survive.

We’ve played a lot of the story in these Guild Wars 2 diaries, or have looked at expansions and side quests. That was done on purpose, for a couple of reasons. Firstly, the World Vs World is dominated by people who know what they’re doing and, secondly, it feels so much more directionless than the main game. The minute I log out, the world vs world servers carry on without me, for better or for worse. It’s a great idea, but not as easy to cover in a weekly diary. For that reason, this week we stepped into the mists, sword in hand, to take on our rival worlds in battle.

Final Fantasy XIV has an interesting history. Announced at the same time as Final Fantasy XIII and completely panned at release, the entire development team was sacked, the game closed and completely remade. A Realm Reborn is the fruit of that fresh development and it has absolutely everything to prove. Final Fantasy XI remains popular, XIV was a bust and the series seems to be heading in a new direction after the reveal last week of Final Fantasy XV. Thankfully, A Realm Reborn is a realm that’s interesting enough to explore and fun enough to play. But is “enough” really enough?

There are a number of mid-level FPS games out there, the sorts of games that are often quite retro-based both in terms of gameplay and in terms of visuals. You’ve probably played the likes of Wolf Team, you’ve seen the gimmick, you’ve enjoyed it and then wondered where things might go from there.
