Trying to get back in Firefall was such a long journey thanks to the patcher problems I run into every now and then. But this time it wasn’t only the patcher, this time it was also about the new 2-step authentication.Red 5 must have thought (because of the recent account issues in other games) they should introduce a 2-step authentication for greater security. Well, the compromise was the user experience. In this article, I will discuss extra security measures in games, recent changes to Firefall and the upcoming Open Beta.

Mature MMORPGs. What does that phrase conjure up for you? Probably the same sorts of things that the word 'mature' inspires in everybody, when linked with video games: boobs and violence. Oh, and hints of rape.

You can keep your dark story in which millions are slaughtered. You can keep your exposed cleavage and knee length bosom. You can even keep your gratuitous violence. These aren't the sorts of things that give credence a certain game being mature or not. They're adult, but they're not mature.

Guild Wars 2 might never have an expansion, and that's a shame. The odd thing is, I can't really explain why it's a shame.

I can see the obvious downsides - the lack of another big launch, even less paid content, not "huge" world-wide changes - but all of these things are, I suppose, possible with the current Living World mode of updating. So why is there a problem?

Because expansions are the way things have always been added to games, and that isn't the case any more.
