Reassessing FF XIV server merge

in Final Fantasy 14, News

ff14 server merger canceledSquare Enix previously announced that it would be merging Final Fantasy worlds in Match and that would cut the number of FF XIV servers from 18 to 10. However, the feedback from the players forced Square Enix to rethink the whole idea.

Square Enix has been planning to merge the servers of Final Fantasy XIV. Last week, we had posted the initial details of this plan which was scheduled for March.

According to the post on Square Enix website today, the developer is now reassessing the method of server merger following the feedback from FF community. There were reports on other sides suggesting that Square Enix would decide not to merge the servers but as you can read below, the official statement is only about "the method of the merger process". It looks like the merger will still take place but there will be a few changes to the initial plan.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for the wealth of feedback you have provided us with following the announcement made on February 9, 2012 (Thursday), regarding the World merge and character transfers. In order to ensure that the most desirable and effective outcome is achieved, we will be reassessing the method of the merger process.
