THQ shifts Warhammer 40K online to a single player RPG

Well, THQ CEO has announced this earlier today and it's really sad to read and write about this (as an MMO gamer) but the fact is THQ has decided to cancel its plans on releasing Warhammer 40K "Dark Millenium Online" as an MMO game. The reason behind this decision is the reassessment of the market dynamics, according to Brian Farrell, the CEO of THQ. Brian Farrel also said that the decision has been made for them and gamers. (apparently not so much for Vigil and Relic)

Warhammer 40k will be a single player RPG

Warhammer 40k: from and MMO to a single player RPG

"As previously announced, we have been actively looking for a business partner for the game as an MMO. However, based on changing market dynamics and the additional investment required to complete the game as an MMO, we believe the right direction for us is to shift the title from an MMO to a premium experience with single and multiplayer gameplay, robust digital content and community features," said Brian Farrell, President and CEO of THQ Inc.

He continued to explain their decision: "Because we believe strongly in the high-quality and vast creative work that is in production, this is the right decision for both our portfolio and for gamers devoted to this powerful property."
