Wargaming renames World of Battleships

Wargaming, the developer of World of Tanks and its sister combat MMO "World of Warplanes" had announced the naval MMO "World of Warplanes". Today, the Russian developer announced that they have decided to renamed the title to World of Warships. Unlike the title change, there are no changes to the gameplay. With this change Wargaming will have two WOW games. Read on for details.

World of Battleships renamed to World of Warships

I never expected a developer to start making combat MMO's like Wargaming has done. The Russian developer has had great success with its debut title "World of Tanks". Following the huge success of the World of Tanks, Wargaming continued to build on it. At the end of the day, they had the user-base and they had the development team. All they needed was another idea. They chose the simplest of ideas for their next games. They chose to make two more combat MMO's, and we are lucky they have done that. 

World of Tanks is a fantastic game. It truly deserves its success and popularity. The gameplay is solid and Wargaming has done a great job to keep the content fresh with frequent updates to the range of tanks and gameplay elements. 

World of Warplanes, from what we have seen so far, has the potential to be the second favorite game of World of Tanks players. In developer diaries, Wargaming has been explaining its ideas regarding, controls, game modes and other gameplay aspects. What we have seen so far has been brilliant. 

Wargaming didn't stop there. The third game offers us naval-action. Today, they announced the new title as they have chosen to rename it from World of Battleships to World of Warships. 

Why did they change the title? Victor Kislyi, CEO of Wargaming explains this: "In addition to more accurately reflecting the game's core essence, World of Warships will correspond more closely to the framework of our Wargaming universe." 

I don't know why they have changed the name of the game but this change gives them their second "WOW" titled game. World of Warplanes and now World of Warships. Maybe they want to have as many WOW games as they can.
