Hello everyone. In this guide I will be explaining everything a newbie needs to know about FS.
Match Types
1. Football Superstars Club (FSC) Matches. The matches you play most of the time. You can currently play FSC Matches for 4 clubs: Milchester United, Fretsby Argyle, Calderfax Thistle, Ashtun Forrest. These matches award fame, experience and money.
2. Player Managed Club (PMC) Friendly Matches. These matches are played only as a part of a PMC. These only offer fame as a reward.
3. Player Managed Club (PMC) Competitional Matches. These matches are played within a competition and offer the best rewards ( bigger than FSC Matches ) .
4. Friendly Matches. Matches that offer no rewards. Friendly Matches are all 5 a side.
Leveling
You level up by playing games. By playing games you gain experience wich fills up the level bar. Once the bar is filled you level up. Leveling is slower and slower as you gain more levels.
Note: The only types of matches that offer experience are: FSC Matches , PMC Competitional Matches and amateur league matches (level 1-10).
You can also gain experience by : a) Rewards from interviews (will be explained later)
b) Events
c) Superstar Management on the http://www.footballsuperstars.com website.
It also depends on how many players on your team finish the match. The less players the more XP for you.
Fame
The fame represents how much money you gain each match. You start as a Local Newcomer with the max rank being International Superstar.
You gain fame by: a) Playing FSC(Football Superstars Club) Matches.
b) Playing PMC Friendly Matches.
c) Playing PMC Competitional Matches.
d) Going into a bar/nightclub and buying drinks.
e) Interview Rewards (not yet sure if theres a reward with Fame or not correct me on this one guys ).
f) There is also the option to boost your fame via Superstar Management feature of the http://www.footballsuperstars.com website. I have no idea yet as to how that contract thing works as I have no bonds to check the section.
Fame - Drinks
There are a few things you should know about the drinks you buy in a bar/night club:
a) The more expensive the drink is the more fame you get.
b) Each time you drink 30 points are withdrawn from your Thirst (out of 100).
c) After 3 drinks you will have to play a match in order to get your thirst back to 100.
d) Buying 1 expensive drink is the same as 3 less expensive ones ( total of same money ).

As a few have noticed the fame rewards underwent a change or 2 in the last patch, due to popular request I have compiled a list of the rewards.

Money
Money is the base for everything you'll ever want in Football Superstars.
Things you should know:
a) You gain money by playing matches.
Money gained in matches is influenced by: 1) Wether you win/lose/draw.
2) Rating
3) Might also depend on how many players finish the match on your team. Not yet sure about this one.
4) Your fame rank. The higher your fame rank the more money you get. Generally +100 FSD per rank.
Gym Stats
Gym stats are the first group of stats you see on your character sheet. They can be increased by training in the gym wich takes money. The cost for a gym point is increased every time you advance by one point.
Generally, it is a good idea to keep your gym's to -5 of your level. If you go above that the cost will get increased by 25% with each point. If you re level 50, it would be good if you had your gym's at 45.
Usually, the first maxed stat is speed wich is absolutely neccesary and the second is endurance.
Gym stats can also be increased via skills ( read later on ) and boots.
As of late you can buy a gym point with 25 FS Credits.
Football Practice Attributes
Abbreviated as FPA. These stats only grow by playing matches. Some time ago when the KA was opened players could have grinded them. They can also be increased by some boots.
Ball Control - Grows when your being tackled.
Hardiness - Grows when your being tackled from behind.
Tackling - Grows when you tackle someone.
Kicking Accuracy - Grows when you do penaltys.
Kicking Power - Grows when you do corners.
Shooting Accuracy - Grows when you miss shots.
Recovery Rate - Unknown
Interception - Intercepting space passes.
Stamina *
Movement Rate *
Note: You can only see these when you highlight one MPA with your mouse in your character sheet.
* = Both added in the 3.0 March Patch. Reportedly they increase proportionally to how much you run on the pitch.
Match Practice Attributes
These are derrived from both your Gym stats and FPAs and are the stats with wich you play in a match (skill's selected dont show up in MPAs) before skills.
Match Practice Attributes explained
Recovery Rate - Your ability to regain stamina - The higher this attribute is the faster your stamina will replenish.
Interception - The accuracy of any preload and the ability to predict where a ball will land - The higher this attribute the less potential there is to mis hit a preload or not be aware where a ball will arrive- High Interception will result in most preloads being on target.
Ball Control - Your ability to run with the ball and shield from front tackles - When in control of the ball you suffer a penalty to your Movement Rate the higher your BC the less the penalty, High BC also offers a resistance to tackles from the front.
Kicking Power - The power with which a player hits the ball with their feet - High KP results in the ability to hit shots harder, play longer balls with feet.
Kicking Accuracy - The accuracy of LMB passes when in possession of ball - High KA will result in better accuracy of LMB balls played in a 45 degree arc in front of your character outside of a 45 degree arc then accuracy is subjected to penalties which can be negated (see anticipation), High KP will also penalise KA with inaccuracy become higher with a larger KP>KA gap.
Shooting Accuracy - The accuracy of all non preload shots (ball in posession) - Higher SA results in more accurate shots when the ball is in your posession.
Pass Timing - The ability to space pass - Higher PT affects space passing range (relative to KP), space passing accuracy, and Space passing speed.
Anticipation - The balance of a player - Higher anticipation results in lower power and accuracy penalties when a kick is performed outside of the 45 degree arc to the front of a character or when a character is in the red zone of stamina.
Tackling - The ability to lmb tackle a opponent - The higher your tackling the better success rate of lmb tackles (in combination with position)
Slide Tackling - The ability to slide tackle a opponent - The higher your slide tackling the better success rate of slide tackles (in combination with position)
Jumping - The ability to jump for a ball - Higher jumping results in the ability to jump higher than a opponent, Jumping also dictates the power of pre-load header's both off goal and shots.
Hardiness - A players strength - Higher Hardiness will result in you bouncing a player more often than not, Hardiness increases your defence v tackles from behind, Hardiness reduces the risk of being injured whilst tackled or tackling.
Movement Rate - A Players off the ball speed - Higher MR results in a faster player off the ball.
Stamina - A players stamina pool - Higher Stamina means a larger stamina pool allowing more sprint time before requiring rest.

NOTE: The higher your Movement Rate is the more Stamina you ll use when sprinting.
* Match Practice Attributes are now called Football Attributes as of the 3.0 March 2011 patch.
* The cap for Football Attributes has been raised from 200 to 700.
Skills
There are 4 type of skills:
a) Passive Skills - Skills wich give you +5 / +10/ +20 in one gym stat or those wich give +4 / + 8/ + 16 in 2 gym stats also called dual passives. These are the most usefull for the newcomers and up to div2 and div 1 to some stage.
* Removed by CS in the 3.0 March 2011 Patch. A refund was given .
b) Boosts - Skills wich can be used inside a match for a short period of time at the cost of 15 stamina. They provide a bigger boost in a certain stat.
c) Procentual Passives now turned into normal passives - Skills wich give you +10/20/30/40/50 in a single MPA Attribute.
d) Unique Skills - Skills wich produce an animation when you trigger them. It can be a overhead kick, a step over, etc. Most of them are useless. Don't get these untill you get to a high level.
You can buy skills from the terrain in lifestyle. Press M and look for the green pitch.
Divisions
Div 4 - Level 1 -> Level 25.
Div 3 - Level 25 -> Level 50
Div 2 - Level 50 -> Level 70
Div 1 - Level 70 +
Things you need to know about divisions:
a) With each division you advance trough you get more experience and money ( except D1 for money ).
b) With each division you will meet tougher players, more skilled, better statted. Be prepared.
Note : The offside rule is now only active in D1.
Player Managed Club
This is considered the high purpose of playing FS. Playing for a PMC. PMCs are a small community playing together under one banner to say so.
Things you should know about PMCs : a) You won't join one by spamming in the help channel that you re looking for one.
b) To join a PMC you should check : 1) For Pele : viewforum.php?f=57 and advertise yourself here viewforum.php?f=58
2) For Cruyff : viewforum.php?f=109 and advertise yourself here viewforum.php?f=110
You can also check your country's forums over here. You might find a PC full of your fellow countrymen.
c) Most teams are formed of 2 squads. The Main team Squad ( eg Echelon FC, Universal FC, SC Germania, AFC Tigers, Old School ) and the academy squad ( eg Galactic FC, Echelon Academy FC, Jaguars FC, SC Vipers, New School ). If you re a lower level player (these times usually under 65-70) you might want to apply for a academy team. There you will have bigger chances of playing competitional matches and learn the game and you will , considering you become good enough, be called for the first team.
d) You can also join IRC over : Server Quakenet ; channels : #fs , #fs-chat and contact PMC leaders and enquire about your position if they need players , ask about they're website, etc.
e) Most teams require players to have good knowledge of english and a microphone in order to communicate with the other members during matches.
f) Most teams use a separate forum, IRC channel and a VoIP Server ( Ventrilo, Teamspeak or Mumble ).
g) Creating a PMC yourself is usually a bad idea unless you re like 70+ and have some experience with this game and also alot of time to waste.

Boots
Boots are an item that can be bought at: a) Puma Store
b) Athlete Sports Shop
c) Shops near the town hall.
As of the March 2011 there are boots that can be bought with FSD and boots ( obviously of better quality ) with FSC.
They can be bought and used regardless of level. They need to be equipped in the Inventory Screen to work.

Items
As of 3.0 March 2011 Patch, items we re introduced into the world of FS.
Consumables You can buy them in gyms. They work in doses, could also call it durability tough. They boost certain MPAs.
Studs, Boots, Shinpads, Base Layers You can buy these from vendors in lifestyle. All of them have a certain durability. Durability is proportional to the item's color.
Durability Durability is only taken from a item once the user finished a match. Subbing in matches and finishing them also counts.
Items Value Green - Purchasable with FSD. Lowest quality and durability.
Blue - Purchasable with FSC. Medium quality and durability.
Purple - Purchasable with FSC. Highest quality and durability.

Question : When you play a match, are positions assigned by any criteria?
Answer : No, positions in a match are totally random as of January Patch.
Question : I saw a player using cheats/hacks/bugs/exploits what should I do?
Answer : You should go to http://footballsuperstars.com/support/ticket/ and raise a ticket providing the neccesary information ( what the accused player did, I Spot information ).
Question : I saw a player scoring intentional own goals, swearing alot and generally playing against his team. What should I do?
Answer : Same as the above question.
Question : I have a technical issue with the game. What should I do?
Answer : There are several steps you can take. You can post here over the forums with your issue. You can make a tickethttp://footballsuperstars.com/support/ticket/ or you can go to IRC and ask the community. Before doing that however make sure: a) You re Direct X is up to date.
b) You re Video Drivers are up to date. For ATI :http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

c) Make sure your Microsoft .NET Framework is up to date.http://www.microsoft.com
d) Make sure your Computer meets the minimum system requirements. ( Personally for smooth play I'd recommend atleast 2.4 GHz single core, 2 GB RAM, Geforce 6600+ ).
e) If you still did this and are 100% sure this is software related you can try a reformat of your HDD ( where Windows is) sometimes it helps having a clean OS.
Question : I want to raise my stats/fame/xp further but don't have any FSD.
Answer : You can go to http://www.footballsuperstars.com log in to your account and buy some credits. With credits you can either convert them in game for money or you can use them on the website in the Superstar Management section.
Question : What benefits does being a subscriber give you?
Answer : Aside from the monthly bonds you get for a recurring subscription / bonds and boots you get for a lifetime one you can: create a PMC; have a captain/coach/manager rank in a PMC. There will be several more benefits in time as announced .
NOTE: Subscriber is NO LONGER available due to moving to a new membership system.
Question : What is I-Spot?
Answer : I-Spot is the place you can track some of your stats by searching your name and also watch every match you played in FS except Kickabout .
Question : What stats should I aim for?
Answer : Generally capping speed and endurance is always a good thing. For a defender : tackling is a priority. Wingers: Speed, Ball Control, Hardiness are priority. Strikers: Ball Control, Hardiness, SA and KP.
Question : I reached the level required to advance to the next division. But it didn't happen. Why?
Answer : You get promoted to the next division at midnight game time. You will get a message wich you need to read to get promoted.
Question : I saw 2 players insulting each other etc. What should I do?
Answer : Try to calm them down for the good of the team. This is a football game sometimes these things just happen. You can report them if they re spamming the chat (also available for lifestyle chat).
Question : Are there any other items aside from boots that give you some kind of boost?
Answer : Currently, no.
Question : I bought some bonds and I haven't received them/ haven't received my boots reward from purchasing Lifetime Subscriber. What should I do?
Answer : You should raise a ticket and the GM's will take care of it.
Question : Im getting low FPS ( frames per second). What should I do?
Answer : Generally, it means you need better hardware. Aside from Upgrading your hardware you can: Defragment your hard drives ( the one with FS and Windows on it ); close any other unnecessary program running in the taskbar (Winamp, MSN, etc ) ; use http://www.iobit.com/gamebooster.html ; clean up your Window's Registry (http://www.worldstart.com/weekly-downlo ... ner4.3.htm very good and simple program I use) .
Question : Im getting lag. What should I do?
Answer : Close any downloads you might be running or other programs that use up your Internet Bandwitdth. If you re on a router make sure no one is downloading on that connection on laptops ,etc.
Question : When I was about to join a match I get entering match failed error. What happened?
Answer : Its the server's fault. It usually happens when alot of people are on one realm .
Question : What is Leaderboard?
Answer : Leaderboard is a huge table where you can track all of your stats. Goals, assists , how you rank versus other people tough it may not always be accurate.
Question : Sometimes I am getting bounced when I try to tackle someone. What s happening?
Answer : It is because of the Ball Control and Hardiness stats. Make sure you re better positioned next time. Also raising your tackling attribute helps.
Question : I want to represent my country at the following World Cups. What do I have to do?
Answer : Most of the national teams by now have they re core of players made already. Good players. If you re on Pele you would have to play alot and get really good at the game so the manager of your national team notices you. Usually managers are decided when the World Cup starts but that doesnt mean you shound't play and get better by then.
Question : How do PMC Matches differ from FSC Matches?
Answer : PMC Matches are more organised from a tactical point of view. Also most of times you will be probably communicating with your team trough VoIP wich makes it even better. Also your opponents are organised aswell. There also are 2 kinds of PMC Matches. PMC Friendlys wich only give fame as reward and PMC Competitional matches wich have rewards higher than any FSC Match.
Question : How is money related to the duration/size of FSC Matches?
Answer : Size of a match ( 3 a side, 5 a side, 7 a side, 11 a side ) does not matter. The duration of a match is the one that increases the money gained along with it.
Question : What is GotM and DPotM competitions that I see over the forum?
Answer : GotM means Goal of the Month. Basically , people submit videos with fantastic goals they ve scored during the course of that month. The one that is the most beautifull wins. All players regardless of level can participate. DPotM reffers to Defense Play of the Month. People submit entries with videos of great tackles one after another made by them or some kind of cool and important interceptions made all in one match and of course during the course of that month. GotM Winners get some epic boots suited for a striker while DPotM winners get boots for a defender. To mention this boots cannot be bought in game.
Question : What is Superstars League?
Answer : Superstars League is the official CS league wich is currently running. In order to play in it you must be part of a club that plays in it. Make sure you read the competition rules at viewtopic.php?f=112&t=8061
Question : What is IRC?
Answer : IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat. Basically its one way to talk to a huge amount of people in chat rooms. You can also talk privately to whoever you want that is present in that chatroom
One free IRC client is KvIRC downloadable fromftp://ftp.kvirc.de/pub/kvirc/4.0.2/bina ... somnia.exe . Again, to join our community you need to select the Quakenet server and after that join the channels #fs and #fs-chat.
Another alternative to that would be going to http://www.webchat.quakenet.orgentering your name and #fs , #fs-chat and #fs-cruyff in channels. You can also just type one of them like #fs then write in the window /join #fs-chat and press enter just like you would chat with somebody , then repeat for #fs-cruyff.
Question : What is VoIP?
Answer : VoIP Stands for Voice IP. Basically its a way for people to TALK trough each other on the internet. For this you need a set of headphones ( to hear ) and microphone ( in order to talk ). Football Superstars currently offer this feature in clubs and in matches. Pressing F1 Activates or deactivates the feature ( you can see it in the log ). Most PMCs use specialised programs for this:

Answer : Superstar Management is a newly introduced feature that allows you to increase the XP, Fame gained and also increase your FPA Stats at the cost of FS Credits.
Question : What are bonds/credits?
Answer : Bonds/credits is the second currency in the game. You buy these from the website http://footballsuperstars.com/en_GB/Sho ... se/Credits for real money and then you can either spend them in game or you can use them on Superstar Management.
Question : I bought credits but I dont see them on my character ?
Answer : You can assign credits to your character by going to the Wallet.http://footballsuperstars.com/my_account/wallet/
Note: 1000 FSCredits = 1000 FSD
Question : After a while I start getting low FPS in FS. What should I do?
Answer : Its generally a good thing to restart FS after playing a while as it is known to consume more and more RAM. Depending on your specs you might feel or you might not feel this.
Question : What happens if one player quits/disconnects/crashes during a game?
Answer : Your team will play the match with one player down untill you get a substitute. You can see the substitute button below the join button in the FSC Queue but ONLY IF there is a need of a substitute at that club. Also if you re in match and one player down, the other team MIGHT fair play wich will mean one of they re player will go to the sideline untill you get a sub. This thing is not enforced by any rules and its not obligatory.
Question : How about the offside rule?
Answer : The offside rule is only available for 7 a side and 11 a side games in Division 1 only.
Question : I want to record a video of in game footage? What should I do?
Answer : Most people use FRAPS for this however It's not a free to use program. There are other programs over the net that will help you with this and are free to use. Feel free to search.
Question : I've heard people saying they got bonds for free on the website. How did that happen?
Answer : The player completed surveys onhttp://footballsuperstars.com/my_account/sponsor/
Question : What is event mode?
Answer : It's a setting used for some PMC Competitions. It sets players playing matches in those competitions on even ground by giving everyone the same level and same stats. So far this has meant level 50 and every Gym/FPA at 50 aswell and on one ocasion level 75 and every gym/fpa at 75. Has been used on all World Cup editions so far.
Question : What is the test server?
Answer : The Test Server is a realm/world/server that is used by the Football Superstars Dev Team to show the community the upcomming patch while also expecting feedback from them in order to remove any remaining bugs or to balance gameplay. The Test Server is not always opened. They will open most likely before patches go live ( live = on the main servers Pele and Cruyff ). On the test server you can play with the same character you can on the live servers. However please remember that you're character might not be up to date with the live one simply because they copy the characters on one day and will not have the progress you make with your character on the next. Question : Can I duplicate my character from Pele to Cruyff or the other way around?
Answer : NO, at the moment it is IMPOSSIBLE to duplicate/copy your character from one server to the other. However , in the future, it might be possible for FS Credits (possibly a huge amount).
Question : What happened to FS Bonds?
Answer : As of the January 2011 Patch Bonds are now FS Credits. 1000 FSCredits = 1000FSD.
Question : What happened with my lifetime subscriber status?

Answer : Yes, we finally got them. However, for now, they don't work as good as you would expect them do. There are no straight reds. The red card system will receive patches in the future.
