Blade & Soul start strong with open beta

NCSoft's new game Blade & Soul entered its open beta last Thursday. It has been such a strong start for the game, NCSoft has already added 15 servers more to keep up with the ever increasing population of the game which saw 150 thousand concurrent users at times.

NCSoft's action MMO game Blade & Soul has already become popular since its Open Beta launch on Thursday last week. NCSoft had reported over 200 thousand characters created on 13 servers last Friday and according to Korea Times, the MMO has now 30 servers as the traffic has climbed up to 150 thousand concurrent users only in 48 hours of Open Beta. Each server are able to handle 10k concurrent users so the game might have already hit over 200k concurrent users.
The article also revealed internet-cafe usage statistics from last weekend (data from Gametrics). According to the site, Diablo 3 which has been the most popular game at internet-cafe's has gone from 22.14% to 18.42% while NCSoft's martial-arts action MMO "Blade & Soul" has hit 17.38% during its open beta testing.

This initial success is a result of NCsoft's invetment of over 55 billion won ($46.9 million) for five years on Blade & Soul. The company has been reporting a decrease in revenues for the past 40 months.
In Blade & Sould, over 100 voice actors worked on 800 fictional in-game characters while 330,000 people registered for the closed beta testing prior to the open beta.
