Guild Wars 2 Launch: Common Issues

It was never going to be an easy launch for ArenaNet and it was not indeed! Guild Wars 2 launched its head-start and with thousands of players trying to create their characters immediately, there came the problems. So far, ArenaNet has been dealing with these issues in a very efficient way(generally) but there are frustrated players looking for answers. We have been following ArenaNet and have compiled this list of fixes for common issues with Guild Wars 2.

We keep an eye on feedback from Guild Wars 2 players and ArenaNet's responses on social media to make a list of common problems and fixes. Please do let us know if you know of another problem or a fix.

1. Tutorial won't stop : Try to leave a party if you are in one.
2. Logging issues with the EU accounts: ArenaNet is working on this one.As of 5:00 AM PST, EU server problems have been resolved, ArenaNet announced.
3. Kimmes problem: Logout of GW2 and then login to your GW1 account again.
4. Black Lion Trading Company problems seem to have been fixed by ArenaNet
5. Error 42: Server problem or problem with your connection, or Firewall.
6. Not being able to get an invitation to a Guild: This is something ArenaNet is still working on.
7. Hall of Monuments Rewards:
   • From Guild Wars 2 website:First, you need to link your Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 accounts. Once you have done that, and providing that you have established a Hall of Monuments in Guild Wars: Eye of the North, then each character on your account will possess a Hall of Monuments Portal Stone in their starting inventory. Take the following steps to claim your rewards:

     Use the Hall of Monuments Portal Stone to be transported to the ruins of the Hall of Monuments.
     Speak with the NPC named Kimmes the Historian.
     Review a list of items for which you have qualified.
     Select any you wish to use on this character.
     Return to your place of origin by using the Hall of Monuments Portal Stone.

8. World Transfer Problems: ArenaNet extended Free Transfers to 7 days!

9. Sending in-game email: ArenaNet is working on it.

10. Friends not being able to join your group. Your friends may be in overflow servers in a queue. When a spot clears up, they should be able to rejoin you

11. ArenaNet has announced that Black Lion Trading Company is finally taken down. 

12. If you are trying to purchase the game now, you might have to wait a little longer than normal. 

13. Error 9 and 45: Contact Guild Wars 2 support

14. Can't verify e-mail? You can still play the game as ArenaNet tries to fix the problem. Click PLAY on the launcher.

15. Error 9 means that your account does not have Headstart access. If you pre-ordered, as opposed to pre-purchasing, your Headstart access will start at 0:00 PDT, on August 27th.

16. Guild invites cannot be sent at this time. Additionally, some players who were in guilds have been kicked and cannot be reinvited. We're investigating.
