Jagex wins court case against bot developers

There is no fair explanation to using bots in games and Runescape's developer Jagex today announced that they won the court case against bot developers. Apparently, Jagex has been trying to battle all kinds of botting and gold farming over the last couple years.
Using bots in a game is nothing but fooling yourself. The experience and satisfaction from deserving the achievements in games is something you can never feel by using bots.
Leave the comments on using bots in games aside for a minute, Runescape's developer Jagex today announced that they won a lawsuit against one of the Runescape bot developers.
Believe it or not, Runescape has been battling against all kinds of botting and gold farming taking place in their popular MMORPG title for years.
Mark Gerhard, CEO & CTO of Jagex, stated: “We began the legal action against the Snellmans over two years ago as a part of our ongoing commitment to ridding RuneScape of bots and gold farmers. Faced with this significant challenge we have continued to demonstrate that we will never shy away from difficult battles, we don’t compromise on taking the right course of action and, regardless of the time, money or effort involved we always do what it takes in order to protect our community”. He went on to say: “We have spared no expense fighting this case, as demonstrated by the seven figure bill this action has cost, but the point of this and other cases of its kind, is that we will continue bring to justice those who set out to harm the game or our beloved community. We are delighted to say that we have convincingly neutered them after a very long battle.”
Winning at the court is not the only action Jagex has taken. They have also introduced a new set of code obfuscation tools in game called "Cluster Flutter" in October 2011 which neutralized 98% of all in-game bots, according to Jagex.
It is not likely that this will stop all bot-users forever but at least this is a victory for Jagex as their CEO Mark Gerhard states: “The result of this case against the Snellmans should serve as a serious deterrent for anyone who continues to be involved in developing botting software or scripts or even maintaining or supporting those involved.”
