Rift free version launches today

Rift's new free to play light version is launching today. The light version, Rift Lite will be released today by publisher Trion and it will feature the latest expansion "Carnival of the Ascended" just like the full pay to play version. This is a great chance for any MMO gamer to see what Rift has got to offer.

Rift Lite going live - Free to play up to level 20

Going to free to play has been the trend in the last two years. Rift's publisher Trion Worlds chose to something a little bit different. They created a Light free-to-play version called Rift Light which has no play-time restrictions. However, the light version is limited up to level 20.

“In the past ten months, Rift has evolved at a breakneck pace, through seven massive updates that set new expectations for live MMOs, in features, in content, and in service,” said Scott Hartsman, Executive Producer of Rift and Trion’s CCO. “We think a Lite edition with no time limit is the best way for players to see what an amazing experience Rift continues to be.”

The light version just like the full version will offer the latest update 1.7 features.
