Salem's Open Beta Launches
Seatribe, the developer of the upcoming free MMORPG "Salem" has just announced the launch of the game's Open Beta. In Salem, players, well, in this case pilgrims, fight to survive and settle as colonies in a fictional world of North America. The game is called The Crafting MMO by its creators as it focuses largely on crafting and skills. It also features permadeath and the in-game city of Boston is a neutral zone where players can safely interact with each other. Read on to see the first trailer.
Salem: The Crafting MMO enters Open Beta
Salem is a new MMORPG that is about thousands of pilgrims who try to beging a new life on deserted lands. The game supposedly contains mature elements according to its developer. We haven't found out anything mature yet from the trailer but the characters have this funny style and the perspective look may remind you of Wakfu.
Salem also features permadeath so players will better be careful before they decide to attack another group. Pilgrims do need to learn skills and crafting to survive as they need to find new resources and food. There are wild animals who can attack your little pilgrims and it's a matter of time before pilgrims start attacking each other :)
Developers of the game said: "By designing Salem with less of a traditional MMO structure, and instead presenting players with a persistent community sandbox with high-stakes consequences for conflict."
The game has just completed its Closed Beta testing and those who participated had their chance to reshape the MMORPG. Developers have introduced new systems such as a barter-based economy, vigilantes and mob justice, and rival settlements. Salem will have new features special for the Open Beta and you can go visit the site and sign up for Salem Beta.
