The Secret World: Beta Weekend Gallery

Today, Funcom has launched the Beta Weekend for its upcoming modern day MMO game "The Secret World." We have been playing the game since the servers went online today and we'll be sharing our first impressions along with screen-shots and gameplay videos. Here is the first set of screenshots featuring our handsome character that has just joined The Templars.

The Secret World's Open Beta weekend has kicked off and we couldn't resist. The game allows you to create a character and play the game as you join one of three societies in game. The Beta allows you to join "The Templars" only. So we created our handsome (hopefully) character and jumped in. Couple minutes after we were given the invitation from the Templars, it was all action and mystery.

This is the first set of screen-shots we'll be sharing with you over the weekend. This first set start with the opening cinematics that shows how you get the invitation from the Templars agent, and how the story begins.

Templar Initiation - Meet Richard Sonnac

Once you clear the area. You go to the Templar Court for your Templar initiation. There you meet Richard Sonnac who assigns you new missions and tells you about the Templars, The Illuminati and the conflict between them. Before your first assignment you will need to get your training. 

Through the gate: Welcome to the Kingsmouth Town

I won't even go into the details of the passage you use to go to Kingsmouth (Spoiler alert). You should do it yourself but we didn't join the Templars to walk around the city, train with chained corpses, and talk to Richard Sonnac all day long, did we?. The real action begins when we step foot on the town of Kingsmouth. We first meet Jack Boone who seems to be camping happily outside the town, in the woods. But it doesn't take us long to step into Hell, just like Jack says...

Complete the missions, explore and discover...

There are hundreds of missions available. (That I have been able to spot) Some of them are really easy and doesn't take much effort but some of them are extremely hard. You can see which mission is hard and you should really leave the "very hard" ones for later. Most of the missions were easy to accomplish on SOLO but some of them required co-operation with other players as the number of hordes or zombie firefighters were just too many to handle. I liked some of the missions as they had well written stories and some of them were boring, such as the missions you need to pick up items for an NPC. While you are on a mission, here is a hint for you. Keep your distance from group of hordes when they are busy. Try to discover shortcuts and take the paths where there are less zombies around.
