Star Trek Online producer reveals more development plans

There is nothing better than reading development plans if you are an MMO enthusiast. It's even better when a producer takes the time to answer community questions regularly. In the latest episode of Ask Cryptic, Dan Stahl answered community questions and revealed more of Star Trek Online's development roadmap, including the Fleet Starbases and crafting update for Season 6. Star Trek Online's producer Dan Stahl, answered over 30 community questions, related to Fleet Starbases, PvP and crafting as well as other STO features.

Answering Fleet Starbases related questions, Stahl said that Fleet Starbases will still have the 500 member Fleet Cap as the developers have looked at the fleets and saw that most fleets have less than 25 members. He still noted that it wouldn't be surprising to see radical changes in MMOs. 

In another answer, Stahl explained why there is a limit on the number of characters permitted in a zone at the same time. He explained this limitation as a hardware performance issue, as it would not be available to render too many characters with some video cards. 

Another questions was about the ships to be made available with the release of Fleet Starbases. Stahl said that these new ships will be restricted to Fleet members who'd also need to overcome certain challenges to acquire the ships.

While there is no certain information regarding Vesta class and its future in game, there will be more information on STF's as we get closer to Season 7. 

Stahl also said that the update to Crafting System won't be in Season 6 but possibly in future seasons. It looks like we won't see any changes in Season 7 either as he wasn't specific. I wouldn't expect to see changes in Crafting before Season 8.

How does it feel to know you have made one of the GREATEST MMO’s of all time? Because it is in fact my all-time favorite? Also I have to ask – Kirk or Picard? 

He answered the first one as "It feels pretty awesome. Working on this game is a dream come true. I’m looking forward to seeing where this ship can take us and hopefully history will remember us well." and finally said "%100 Kirk".
