Why you should stick with your friends in Guild Wars 2

in Guild Wars 2, News

MMO means Massively Multiplayer Online, right? How does this definition live up to the reality? That's another debate. There are so many MMOs that we have reviewed here and questioned the Massively side of them. In Guild Wars 2 developers try to motivate you every way to play with your friends.

Guild Wars 2 makes you want to play with friends

In an interview with PCGamer, Guild Wars 2 developers at ArenaNet has explained how and why they wanted to make Guild Wars 2 players to play the game with their friends, more often than in any other MMO.

In MMOs we love to play with friends. When you join a guild, or create one with your friends, that's the best experience you can ever achieve playing an MMO. The joy of playing with friends is second to none and it makes you even lookover the shortcomings of the game itself. It also makes you need and desire to play the game much more.

Guild Wars 2 developers knew about this and they have designed the game in a way it encourages players to play with their friends.

Server transfers, Guesting

According to the interview, in Guild Wars 2, there is a unique server transfer system. When you want to transfer your character to another server, you are asked to pay a fee. They did this to make sure players don't toy with the system and to prevent players from abusing the system.

There is also the free Guesting system that allows you to guest join another server where you friend resides. This sounds extremely fun to be able to visit your friends server and play a game or two with them.

Lead Game designer Eric Flannum explains how players benefit from playing with friends.

For example, our waypoint system is designed to allow players to quickly and easily travel to wherever their friends are..... Whenever we design a new feature we always ask ourselves how it impacts our players’ ability to play with their friends.
