MechWarrior Online Open Beta Launches Monday

MechWarrior Online's highly anticipated open beta is finally going to launch next Monday, October 29. The president of Piranha games just posted a long article explaining their decisions as he thanks the core community of MechWarrior Online, in other words the people who participated in the Closed Beta. With the Open Beta launch, there will thousands of more players looking to get their hands on the game and he knows how vital it is now to clarify some of the issues before it gets all busy. MechWarrior Online Goes Open Beta On Monday

Closed Beta test has been incredible and Piranha Games had a record-breaking sale of Founder's Packages for its upcoming MechWarrior Online game. MWO is about to enter its first Open Beta on Monday unless there is a last minute change in plans. According to the president of Piranha Games; Russ Bullock, the game's core community can not provide any more valuable feedback if they don't launch the Open Beta and give access to masses. 

He has a valid point there. I also know how core communities of MMOs can be so fanatic about a certain feature and then forget about the rest of the game at times. It's only natural for experienced group of players to overlook some of the more basic but problematic (for casual players) sides of the game. Casual gamers or the other types of gamers are no concern for the core players. At the end of the day, they are not worried about commercial success of the game. Without an Open Beta, all that the developers would have as player-feedback would be coming from those who already know the basics of the game's mechanic but only concentrate on the little details.
