Would you buy an in-game item for 1000 Euros?
Is the answer NO? Or is it more like "get out of here"? Well, you can say no to the overpriced in-game items but it doesn't stop the 2000 people from buying spaceship drones with a price tag of 1000 Euros which makes about US$1300. This makes about $2.6 million revenue from just a single virtual good.
According to the news on Gamesbrief Bigpoint has made over 2.6 million Dollars from a 4-day sale of spaceship drones. We are talking about the SCI-FI MMO title Dark Orbit.
This, once again, proves that micro-transactions in free to play MMO games can turn into excellent money makers. Bigpoint's Dark Orbit currently has 65 million registered accounts and Bigpoint expects to make 200 million Euros revenue from in game goods.
