MechWarrior Online - How to choose the right Mech and the right Weapon

MechWarrior Online is one of the complicated games if you are unfamiliar with Mechs and how they operate. Controlling a Mech is not child's play, at least in early stages. Before you choose your BattleMech, you should be familiar with its powers and weaknesses. A BattleMech such as the Atlas is a heavy Mech and its pretty powerful when it comes to demolishing targets. But its heavy weapon system comes with its own disadvantages too. The heavy weapons cause the Mech to heat up quickly. If you don't keep an eye on your Mech's heat level, you might find yourself paralized in the middle of the Frozen City.

Avoid your Mech's overheating

Heat Warning! Make sure you don't overheat your BattleMech!

MechLab gives you the chance to equip your BattleMech with different weapons and systems. You can buy new items and you can upgrade your Mech's defense and attack systems. You can improve your Mech's cooling systems to avoid problems such as overheating. In the MechLab you can also choose how your weapon systems function.

In the video, developers also discuss the importance of cockpit and how you can read the data displayed in there.

How to control the Mech in MechWarrior Online

Another difference between BattleMech and other similar games is the control system. Unlike many other games, the standard W and S keys do not move your Mech forward and backwards. Instead, you use the W key to throttle up your Mech and S key to throttle down. And the momentum your Mech has got, you can not just stop it instantly. You will have to throttle down to zero and wait for your Mech to stop. (There is the option to throttle to zero immediately)
