Star Wars Galaxies shutting down in December

Sony Online has announced that it will shut down the long running MMO title, Star Wars Galaxies in December, 2011 as the game celebrates its 8th year anniversary today. Players will be given some bonuses as a thank you from Sony Online.

Sony Online has already stopped selling subscriptions of Star Wars Galaxies and Star Wars Galaxies is only available for purchase until September 15th. Later on, there will be no way to create new accounts. Maybe that's your last chance to play this game, if you have never done that.

SOE is giving some bonuses to loyal customers. Players of Star Wars Galaxies will receive free two month trials to Sony games, Free Realms, Star Wars Clone Wars, Everquest 1 and 2, and DC Universe Online.
