Final Fantasy XIV : Server merge next month

Square Enix will be merging Final Fantasy XIV servers in March. Intended to improve player experience until the launch of FF14 version 2, players will be asked to select new world for their characters.

Square Enix is getting ready to launch Final Fantasy XIV V2 in 2012. Before they do that, they are merging servers next month and the total number of servers will be cut down to 10 from 17. In order to make this fair to all players, Square Enix will ask players to select their post-merge world for their characters.

According to the post on Lodestone they will be adding new servers following the launch of Final Fantasy XIV v2.
