SWTOR: 3 million sales estimated

Bioware had the final beta test last weekend and thousands of beta testers joined the servers despite some connection problems. According to some industry analysts, the MMORPG that is expected to challenge World of Warcraft will make 3 million sales in the first year.
We don't know exactly how much EA has spent on Star Wars: The Old Republic but it is roughly between $100-150 million. This is of course a giant investment however the preliminary estimates suggest a bright future for Bioware and EA.
According to the article on Forbes , Star Wars The Old Republic which will charge players $14/month would sell 3 million copies first year and would have 2 million subscribers at the end of 2012. The numbers point to a healthy future for the game and it is not hard to guess SWTOR will make good money for EA.
During the final test last weekend, players had trouble connecting to the servers but it is only good for EA and Bioware to have hundreds of thousands of people waiting to play the game.
Star Wars The Old Republic will be released on December 20.
