Transformers Universe Coming Autumn
The Hasbro Brand team have been talking Transformers Universe at BotCon 2013 and have let slip when we might be able to expect their "Robots in Disguise" sim, although it's still frustratingly vague. Rather than the annoyingly ambiguous "Q4 2013," Transformers Universe will now be available in Fall 2013.
I suppose it still covers the same amount of time, but at least we know it'll be here sooner rather than later.
It's quite surprising as well. This is a game that we actually still know very, very little about. There's a closed beta going on, but obviously it's all been placed under an NDA and nobody is talking. The natural question might be "why?"
The obvious answer is it's just not very good. That might not be true, but how many other games have you heard of being in closed beta 3-5 months before release without hardly anything released about it? On the other hand, this is a Hasbro IP about robots, so it's bound to big in Japan and nostalgia will be enough to get it a following in the west.
We do know that you'll have to pick from the Autobots or the Decepticons and that you'll be able to transform between robot and vehicular states. We know it's browser based, although that doesn't means an awful lot these days. It was announced almost three years ago and was originally due for release last year, although that turned out to be way off.
If you're not lucky enough to get into the beta, you'll have to wait on the sidelines with the rest of us until the official release later this year.
