Guild Wars 2 long term development plans are ready

For a long running MMO such as World of Warcraft, you expect loads of new content and that content's better be unique or the majority of players eventually get tired of playing. Guild Wars 2 developer ArenaNet must be aware of this and their formula is to have content ready for years to come.
Guild Wars 2 development roadmap is ready for years to come
Guild Wars 2 beta weekend is coming and thousands, if not a million players are ready to jump in and start playing the game for years to come. The developer of the game ArenaNet must have anticipated this while they started making their development roadmap.
According to Eurogamer's interview with ArenaNet, senior vice president Randall Price said "You may not realise this, but we have development plans in our back pocket for literally years to come."
It's really great to know that the developer doesn't only have short-term plans but also long term plans. Long term plans include content updates for the coming years after the release of the game. And the short terms plans are the upcoming beta weekends and the pre-purchase program.

There are also the mid-term plans including post-release patches that will ensure the quality of Guild Wars 2.
No certain release date yet
Despite all the short, mid-term and long term plans stated by vice president, there is still no certain date for the release of Guild Wars 2. According to Mr. Price the release date will be announced after the beta tests. Obviously, ArenaNet first wants to see if everything goes as planned during the beta.
