TERA weekly review part 4It was time to leave the Island of Dawn, I’d done everything I possibly could here and, after performing a little bit of a clean-up, I knew it was time to go. There were still many mysteries from my time on the Island: where was Elleon, the commander of the first wave of soldiers on the island? Why were the demons, usually so mercenary in their attitude, so hell-bent on attacking us? This week, at long last, I was finally time to start getting answers. But it wouldn’t be as easy as all that. I’d need to kill Kugai, explore my way into Karascha’s layer and struggle against him until he lay defeated and, finally, hop a life on a Pegasus on my way through to the grand city of Velika. It was going to be a busy, action-packed week, a staunch difference after the grind that was last week.

It was time to head somewhere much, much darker. Over the past two weeks, I’d explored TERA rather tentatively; I’d wandered the initial area and fought a decent amount of different monsters and then I’d began the early quest path and started discovering more about the mysterious world around me. Why had the initial army sent to this new island completely decimated? What were the secrets of the Orks so ready to attack and destroy me and my people? So far all I’d received from the game was questions and I was fascinated to find some answers. The more I played though, the more confused I got. Tired and disappointed by a lack of plot progression, I wandered into the Tainted Gorge and saw a darker side to the Island of Dawn. Would I get the answers I was after or would I just come, instead, across deadlier foes and deadlier mysteries?

It was time to get serious. I’d taken something of a slow trip into my first proper play through of TERA, I’d lazily explored the world and fought anything I felt needed a good kicking, but I’d taken quests as something optional. That was about to change. It was time to jump head first into TERA’s story and find my place amongst all the busy people I’d seen exploring the world. I’d done a few of the tutorial levels, I’d picked up some basic skills and I’d levelled up more than perhaps I needed to at this point in the game and it was time to find out why I was here. It turns out that TERA makes a big mistake early in its infancy and it’s a mistake I usually find it quite hard to forgive in an MMO. We’ll touch on that later.
