Turbine Release MAC Client For DDO

DDO for MacTurbine had released the Mac client for Lord of the Rings Online a while ago. Today, they've announced the new Mac client for another popular MMORPG; Dungeons & Dragons Online. Dungeons & Dragons Online is now available on Mac.

Mac gamers have not received any love from game developers in a decade. There hasn't been many Mac compatible MMOs if you don't count the browser based games. We won't even go into the fact that the case is even worse for Linux users. Today we can hope that it's about to change. Lord of the Rings Online and Dungeons & Dragons Online's developer Turbine is inviting all Mac users to its fantasy MMORPGs. Firs, if you remember this, Turbine had announced its first Mac compatible MMORPG; Lord of the Rings Online last month. 

DDO now available on Mac

Dungeons & Dragons Online is now available on Apple Mac

A few hours ago, Turbine announced that the new Mac client for DDO is now available for download. The Mac client is not some kind of emulation either. The DDO Mac client is a native OSX client.

So what is the DDO Mac client? The Mac client is a version of the DDO game that runs natively on the Apple Mac operating system. The client supports OSX Lion (10.7) and OSX Mountain Lion (10.8). Limited functionality is confirmed for 10.7 and 10.8. 

Turbine also released the General Requirements for Dungeons & Dragons Online for Mac:

Processor: 2.3GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor w/3MB on-chip shared L3 cache
Note: Power PCs are not supported
Memory: 2GB of 1333MHz DDR3 memory
Storage: 500GB (7200 rpm) hard drive – or – 256GB flash storage
Graphics:
Intel HD Graphics 3000 processor with 288MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory
AMD Radeon HD 6750M graphics processor with 512MB of GDDR5 memory

What are the differences between the PC and Mac versions?

Rendering: The Mac client uses OpenGL for rendering, instead of DirectX. OpenGL renders all DirectX 9 content at ultra-high resolution, however features implemented using DirectX 10 and 11 will not be available in the initial release of the Mac client.
