Guild Wars 2 Expansion Replaced by Living World

There's a very good chance that there'll never be a full expansion for Guild Wars 2. Instead, you can continue to expect bi-weekly updates in the shape of "The Living World." Love them or hate them, they're here to stay, and will probably prevent a full world change on the scale of World of Warcraft's Cataclysm from ever happening.

Then again, maybe that's not so terrible as and of itself.

Report Reveals MMO Growth and Revenues

A new report on the potential of the MMO market has been published by GlobalCollect, as well as a few revelations about just how much we all spend on our gaming habit. After my Devil's Daily last night, it's nice to see that all my speculation was supposedly entirely off base.

It looks like MMO gaming is getting bigger than ever, and that more than 20% of money spent on gaming comes from the MMO sector. Not bad for a genre built around free-to-play.

A Realm Reborn Attracts a Million to its Beta

Square Enix have announced that they've had a million registrations for the beta of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. This more or less confirms that most people are willing to at least give them the benefit of the doubt in regards to their being able to fix all the issues found in the original Final Fantasy XIV.

Of course, a million people is also pretty successful in its own right, and it's a great sign of things to come.
